Making the Impossible Possible

Chicago, IL – Project H.O.O.D.(Helping Others Obtain Destiny) and Pastor Corey B. Brooks will host its 5th Annual Fundraising Gala on June 1st, 2018 at 7pm at Theatre on the Lake located at 2401 North Lake Shore Drive, Chicago. Founded by Pastor Corey B. Brooks, Project H.O.O.D. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing violence by empowering youth and young adults to make positive decisions.

The gala will honor the philanthropic dedication of their continued supporters since the organization’s inception in 2012. In anticipation of the 2018 gala, Project H.O.O.D. has raised more than three million dollars to begin funding of an enhanced community center that will house an array of businesses and recreational activity for south siders.

“We are so proud of everything we’ve been able to accomplish over the past five years,” said Pastor Brooks. “Helping others in the community reach their potential and fulfill their dreams is a lifelong mission for all of those who continue to support Project H.O.O.D. The gala will be a celebration of those accomplishments and well as a continued opportunity to galvanize and strengthen efforts for the next chapter of our journey.”

Co-chaired by Richard Edelman, president and CEO of Edelman, a leading global communications-marketing firm, the gala will celebrate the strengthening of some of Chicago’s most under-resourced neighborhoods.

"Community engagement is part of corporate leadership," said Richard Edelman, president and CEO of Edelman. "We have a deep commitment to Chicago, and we share Project HOOD’s vision that entrepreneurial activity can have – in fact must have – a positive social impact in our wonderful city."

The evening is also co-chaired by Todd Ricketts, a Chicago Cubs board member, and his wife, Sylvie Légère Ricketts, co-founder of The Policy Circle. Project H.O.O.D.'s core mission resonates with the Ricketts, with community enrichment and empowerment central to their family identity.

“We are ecstatic to help commemorate Project H.O.O.D.’s five years of efforts and successes with empowering people in the community,” said Todd Ricketts. “We look forward to bringing more light to the amazing accomplishments of Project H.O.O.D. and its core mission,” added Sylvie Légère Ricketts.
